Waterway Service Launches Between Bhagalpur and Navgachia, 12 Ferries to Operate

From Thursday 6 a.m., twelve passenger vessels will ply the newly opened waterway between Bhagalpur and Navgachia, with tickets, security, a medical camp and a kitchen service arranged for commuters.
The state transport department inaugurated a regular waterway service linking Bhagalpur and Navgachia on Thursday morning. Starting at 6 a.m., twelve passenger vessels will operate on the route, providing an alternative to road travel across the Ganges.
To ensure a smooth commute, authorities have set up ticket counters, security checks, a temporary medical camp and a kitchen service known locally as “Rasoi Didi” at the boarding points. These facilities aim to address passenger safety, health and food needs during the journey.
The launch is part of Bihar’s broader push to develop inland water transport, which officials say will reduce travel time, de‑congest road traffic and promote economic activity along the river corridor.
