The Telugu slasher 'Cult', starring Vishwak Sen, posted a disappointing box‑office figure on its first day, far below industry expectations.
The new Telugu slasher titled 'Cult', headlined by Vishwak Sen, opened to a markedly weak box‑office performance on its first day, according to data reported by TrackTollywood. Industry observers had anticipated a stronger start given the film's aggressive marketing and the actor's recent popularity.
Box‑office figures released for the opening day showed collections that were significantly lower than the film's production budget and the pre‑release buzz surrounding the project. The shortfall highlights the challenges faced by niche‑genre films in attracting mass audiences during the initial weekend.
Analysts point to several factors that may have contributed to the under‑performance, including stiff competition from other releases, limited screen count for a genre‑specific title, and mixed word‑of‑mouth among early viewers.
The underwhelming debut is expected to influence the film's trajectory in the coming days, with distributors closely monitoring audience response and potential adjustments in promotional strategies.
Despite the setback, Vishwak Sen's team remains hopeful that positive critical reception could bolster attendance in the subsequent shows.
