On Vijayadashami, Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain held a special ash aarti where the deity was adorned with bhang, a silver crown and a garland of beads after a Panchamrit abhishek.

Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple observed a distinctive Vijayadashami ceremony on Saturday, featuring a bhasma aarti dedicated to Baba Mahakal. After the traditional Panchamrit abhishek, priests applied bhang to the deity's idol, a practice reserved for this festive occasion.

The idol was then crowned with a silver tiara and draped with a string of beads, enhancing the visual splendor of the ritual. Devotees gathered in large numbers, lining the temple courtyard to witness the elaborate decoration and to participate in the aarti.

The event drew worshippers from across Madhya Pradesh, reflecting the temple's significance in the region's religious calendar. Authorities reported that the gathering remained orderly, with security and crowd‑control measures in place throughout the ceremony.

Organisers emphasized that the special adornment underscores the cultural importance of Vijayadashami in the Hindu tradition, marking the triumph of good over evil while honoring the deity of time and destruction, Mahakal.
