The Hindu festival Vijayadashami, marking the end of Navaratri, will be observed in Odisha in 2026 with customary rituals and public celebrations.

Vijaya Dashami, the tenth day of the Navaratri festival, is slated for 2026 in Odisha, concluding the nine‑day celebration dedicated to the goddess Durga. The day, which commemorates the triumph of good over evil, will be observed according to the Hindu lunar calendar.

Across the state, temples will host special pujas and aarti ceremonies, while city streets are expected to be adorned with colourful rangoli and decorative lights. Traditional folk performances, including dhulia and dandiya, will be organized in community halls and public squares.

The Odisha government has announced additional security arrangements and traffic management plans to ensure smooth conduct of large gatherings, especially at major pilgrimage sites such as Puri and Sambalpur. Temporary medical camps and sanitation facilities will be set up to cater to the influx of devotees.

Cultural organisations are also planning large processions featuring towering Durga idols that will be taken through main avenues before being immersed in local water bodies, a ritual that symbolizes the goddess’s return to her celestial abode.

Officials anticipate that the festival will draw millions of participants, reinforcing Odisha’s reputation as a centre of vibrant Hindu traditions and communal harmony.
