Vice President's historic visit to Meghalaya praised by Chief Minister

New Delhi – The Vice President of India arrived in Meghalaya for a multi‑day tour that officials say is the first of its kind for the region. During the visit, the Vice President met with the state’s chief minister and senior administrators to discuss infrastructure, tourism and the implementation of central schemes.

The chief minister welcomed the dignitary, calling the trip "historic" and emphasizing its importance for boosting the state's development agenda. He highlighted the potential for greater central‑state collaboration in areas such as road connectivity, renewable energy and education.

The Vice President, in turn, lauded Meghalaya’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, and pledged continued support for projects aimed at improving livelihoods in the hill state. The visit is expected to pave the way for new initiatives and increased investment in the region.
