Rising prices of vegetables and fruits in Mohali have left ordinary consumers worried about their daily expenses.
Mohali residents are reporting a sharp increase in the cost of fresh vegetables and fruits across local markets. Traders say that the price hike has been noticeable over the past few weeks, pushing the cost of everyday staples beyond the reach of many households.
Consumers have expressed growing anxiety as their grocery bills swell, with many families having to cut back on quantity or switch to cheaper alternatives. The surge is affecting low‑ and middle‑income groups the most, who allocate a larger share of their income to food.
Local market officials acknowledge the pressure on shoppers but have not provided a definitive cause for the spike. They indicated that supply chain constraints and seasonal factors could be contributing, though no official data has been released yet.
The situation underscores broader concerns about food affordability in the region, prompting calls for monitoring mechanisms to stabilize prices and protect vulnerable consumers.
