Vantara, the animal‑care arm of Anant Ambani, has taken custody of Maya, an 18‑month‑old orphaned elephant from Kerala, after veterinary experts urged the company to intervene.
Maya, a young elephant who lost her mother at a very early age, was found in a remote area of Kerala where she had been living alone and showing signs of distress.
The rescue marks a significant step for Vantara, which has been expanding its focus on wildlife conservation and animal welfare initiatives under Anant Ambani’s leadership.
Veterinary teams will monitor Maya’s health and plan a long‑term care strategy, with the goal of ensuring she receives proper nutrition, medical care and, if possible, integration into a sanctuary setting.
