A Vande Bharat train built in Punjab has successfully completed a 180‑km/h trial run on the Mathura‑Nagda stretch in Uttar Pradesh.
The Vande Bharat Express, manufactured in Punjab, reached a speed of 180 kilometres per hour during a trial on the Mathura‑Nagda section of the Uttar Pradesh rail network.
The test, conducted under the Indian Railways’ high‑speed rail programme, demonstrated the train’s capability to operate at the target speed on existing tracks.
The 70‑km stretch between Mathura and Nagda is a key corridor for future high‑speed services, and the successful trial is a milestone for the project.
Rail officials say the next phase will involve extended runs and safety checks before the train is cleared for commercial service.
