Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the number of startups in Uttarakhand has risen from about 700 to more than 1,700 over the past five years.

The state government of Uttarakhand reported a significant rise in its startup ecosystem, with the count climbing from roughly 700 to over 1,700 in just five years, according to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. This growth reflects increased entrepreneurial activity across sectors such as tourism, renewable energy, and information technology.

Dhami highlighted that the administration has introduced several policy measures, including easier registration processes, tax incentives, and dedicated incubation centers, to nurture new ventures. The state aims to position itself as a hub for innovation in the Himalayan region.

Industry observers note that the surge aligns with broader national trends encouraging startups, but Uttarakhand's unique geography and resource base offer distinct opportunities. The government plans to further bolster funding avenues and skill development programs to sustain the momentum.

If the upward trajectory continues, the state could see higher employment generation and attract additional private investment, strengthening its economic diversification beyond traditional agriculture and tourism.
