Uttarakhand CM Calls for Immediate Evacuation of Stranded Trekkers in Uttarkashi

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has urged state authorities to promptly evacuate trekkers trapped in Uttarkashi after adverse weather made the mountain routes unsafe.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appealed to the Uttarakhand government on Monday to launch a safe evacuation operation for a group of trekkers who became stranded in the high‑altitude region of Uttarkashi. The trekkers were caught after sudden weather changes rendered the usual trekking paths hazardous, prompting concerns over their health and safety.
State disaster management officials were instructed to mobilise rescue teams, including the state police, forest department and the National Disaster Response Force, to reach the stranded hikers as quickly as possible. Authorities are also coordinating with local volunteers and nearby villages to provide temporary shelter and medical aid until the trekkers can be moved to safer locations.
The CM emphasized that the safety of adventure tourists remains a priority for the state and urged the public to heed weather advisories before embarking on high‑altitude treks. He assured that all necessary resources would be deployed to bring the trekkers back without incident.
No injuries have been reported so far, and the rescue operation is expected to continue through the night, weather permitting.
