The Uttarakhand government has announced an increase in the honorarium for officials and the revival of a ₹25 lakh fund earmarked for Kshetra Panchayats.
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand announced today that the state will raise the honorarium paid to officials and revive a ₹25 lakh fund allocated for Kshetra Panchayats. The decision, made during a press conference in Dehradun, aims to strengthen local governance and provide financial support to rural development bodies.
The honorarium hike will apply to all elected and appointed members of Kshetra Panchayats, ensuring that their remuneration reflects the responsibilities they shoulder. The ₹25 lakh fund, which had been dormant for several years, will be reactivated to finance community projects such as road maintenance, water supply schemes, and health outreach programs.
The CM emphasized that the move is part of a broader strategy to empower local institutions and improve service delivery at the grassroots level. Officials will receive the revised payments from the next fiscal cycle, while the revived fund will be disbursed through a transparent application process overseen by the state’s Panchayati Raj Department.
