The Uttarakhand government has prohibited the sale of gutka, pan masala and all tobacco‑containing food products across the state. The move aims to reduce tobacco consumption and protect public health.
The ban covers all forms of gutka, pan masala and any food product that contains tobacco. It applies to retailers, wholesalers and online platforms operating within Uttarakhand.
State officials said the order was issued after reviewing the health risks associated with smokeless tobacco products. The directive is effective immediately and mandates strict enforcement.
Authorities have asked district administrations and food safety officers to monitor compliance and take action against violations. The decision is part of broader efforts to curb tobacco-related illnesses in the region.
