Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh has become India's fifth‑largest exporting state, with the carpet industry of Bhadohi accounting for a major share of the growth.
New Delhi – Uttar Pradesh has moved up to become the fifth‑largest exporting state in India, the chief minister announced on Tuesday. He highlighted that the state's overall export performance has improved markedly, positioning it just behind the country's top four exporters.
The minister singled out the carpet sector of Bhadohi district as a key driver of this rise. Bhadohi, often dubbed the "Carpet City," supplies a substantial portion of the state's export earnings, with its hand‑knotted and machine‑woven rugs finding markets abroad.
State officials said the government is continuing to support the Bhadohi carpet industry through infrastructure upgrades and export‑promotion initiatives, aiming to sustain the momentum and push Uttar Pradesh higher in the national export rankings.
