The Uttar Pradesh government announced that offices will remain closed from October 19 for three consecutive days to observe the Hindu festival of Mahanavami.
The state government issued an official notification declaring a public holiday on October 19 to mark Mahanavami, the eighth day of the Navaratri festivities.
The holiday will be extended for two additional days, resulting in a three‑day shutdown of government offices, schools and many private establishments across the state.
Authorities said the move is intended to allow citizens to participate in traditional rituals and family gatherings associated with the festival.
The announcement was made through the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms and has been published in the state gazette.
Businesses and the public have been advised to plan accordingly, with essential services such as hospitals and law‑enforcement remaining operational.
