The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has given its nod to rename the upcoming Jewar airport in Gautam Buddha Nagar after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The cabinet of Uttar Pradesh approved a proposal to rename the under‑construction Jewar international airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, where the cabinet voted in favour of the name change, citing the PM's contributions to the nation.
The airport, being built in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, is slated to become the state's second major aviation hub after Lucknow, with an expected operational date in the mid‑2020s.
Officials said the new name will be reflected in all official documents and signage once the airport is inaugurated.
