The Union Minister visited North Sikkim to assess the implementation of central government schemes and announced new initiatives targeting specific sectors.

New Delhi's Union Minister arrived in North Sikkim on a fact-finding tour to take stock of central schemes being executed in the district. During the visit, the minister met with the Sikkim Chief Minister, district officials and local representatives to gauge the impact of programmes in health, education and rural development.

The minister highlighted gaps in implementation and urged state agencies to accelerate delivery, especially in remote villages. In response, a set of sector‑specific initiatives was launched, aimed at strengthening key areas identified during the review.

The announcements included additional funding allocations and a timeline for monitoring progress, with a joint committee to be formed for regular oversight. Officials said the measures are expected to boost socio‑economic indicators in the hilly region.

The visit underscores the central government's focus on ensuring that flagship schemes reach the most underserved parts of the country, aligning with broader development goals for the North Eastern states.
