The city of Ujjain plans to complete a network of 21 new bridges before 2028, aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve access for pilgrims visiting the upcoming Swayam 2028 event.
Ujjain authorities have announced a major infrastructure initiative to construct 21 new bridges across the city before the year 2028. The project, aimed at reducing daily traffic congestion, will also provide smoother access for pilgrims heading to the Swayam 2028 pilgrimage event.
The bridges will span key river crossings and busy roadways, linking residential areas with commercial hubs. According to city officials, the new structures are expected to cut travel times by up to 30 percent during peak hours.
In addition to the bridge network, two railway overbridges are under construction in Lalpur, a suburb of Ujjain. These overbridges will separate rail and road traffic, further easing congestion and enhancing safety for commuters.
The combined effort reflects Ujjain’s commitment to improving urban mobility and supporting the influx of visitors for the upcoming religious gathering. Completion of the bridges is slated for early 2028, aligning with the pilgrimage schedule.
