Ujjain Mosque Restoration: Work to Resume After Agreement on Removal of 3-Foot Section

The Shahi Mosque in Ujjain, a historic landmark for the city’s Muslim community, will undergo a partial removal of its structure after a recent agreement between local authorities and mosque officials. The decision was reached following discussions that involved the Ujjain municipal administration, the city Kazi, and the mosque management committee.

The parties agreed to excise a section approximately three feet in length from the mosque’s façade. While the removal plan has been approved, the precise boundary of the excised portion remains under further deliberation.

Work is scheduled to resume on Tuesday morning, with contractors expected to begin the demolition under the supervision of the mosque committee. The project aims to preserve the mosque’s architectural integrity while addressing safety and structural concerns.

Officials have indicated that the removal will be completed within a few weeks, after which a review will determine any additional measures needed to maintain the mosque’s historical significance.
