Councilor Hemant Gahlot sat in accumulated sewer water on the Peepali Naka–Gadhkalika road in Ujjain to protest the month‑long drainage issue. After about an hour, an official apologized and the water was drained.
The protest took place on the road connecting Peepali Naka to Gadhkalika, where sewer water had been stagnant for approximately a month. Frustrated by the unsanitary conditions, Councilor Hemant Gahlot decided to sit directly in the contaminated water to draw attention to the civic neglect. He remained in the water for about sixty minutes, during which local residents and passersby observed the demonstration. Following the prolonged sit‑in, a municipal official approached him, expressed regret for the delay in addressing the issue, and offered an apology. Upon receiving the apology, Gahlot ended his protest, and authorities promptly pumped out the accumulated water from the roadway.
