Punjab police detained two Rajasthan residents in Ludhiana, seizing firearms and alleging they were ready to fire at the homes and offices of prominent local businessmen on instructions from an associate abroad.
Punjab police arrested two men from Rajasthan in Ludhiana after a raid uncovered firearms and ammunition. The suspects were taken into custody at a local residence where the weapons were stored, and the police have confirmed that the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a planned violent act.
According to investigators, the two detainees were in direct contact with a person identified as Harman Sandhu, who resides abroad. Authorities say Sandhu allegedly directed the pair to target the homes and offices of several prominent businessmen in the city, intending to carry out a shooting as a means of intimidation or extortion.
Police officials have not disclosed the exact number of weapons recovered but emphasized that the plot was foiled before any attack could be executed. The suspects are being held for further questioning, and charges of unlawful possession of arms and conspiracy to commit violent crime are expected to be filed.
The case highlights growing concerns over cross‑border criminal networks influencing local violence. Law enforcement agencies have pledged to intensify monitoring of such communications to prevent similar threats in the future.
