Two dead, two critically injured in separate road accidents in Assam’s Dima Hasao district

Local police in Assam’s Dima Hasao district reported two separate road accidents on Tuesday that resulted in two fatalities and two people in critical condition. The first crash occurred on a hilly stretch of the district road, where a passenger vehicle collided with a roadside barrier, killing both occupants. The second incident involved a motorcycle and a small truck on a different route, leaving the rider and a passenger with life‑threatening injuries.

Emergency services rushed to both sites, evacuating the injured to the nearest hospital in Haflong. Medical teams have confirmed that the two critically injured victims are under intensive care, while the deceased were identified only as local residents.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accidents, citing poor road conditions and possible driver error as factors under review. The district administration has urged commuters to exercise caution, especially on narrow mountain roads during adverse weather.

The police have not released further details pending the outcome of the inquiry, and no arrests have been reported so far.
