Police of Paparda police station uncovered a Rs 2 crore theft of scooter parts from a truck on the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway within 24 hours, revealing that the complainant driver, Mahir Azad, orchestrated the crime.
The Paparda police station announced that a truck loaded with scooter components worth approximately Rs 2 crore was hijacked on the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway. The theft was reported by the driver, who later emerged as the chief architect of the plot, according to the police investigation.
Investigators say the driver, identified as Mahir Azad, filed a false complaint to divert attention while coordinating the removal of the goods. Within a day, forensic and CCTV analysis linked the stolen cargo to the driver’s own vehicle, leading to his arrest.
Authorities have seized the remaining parts and are pursuing additional charges of fraud and organized theft. The case underscores growing concerns over cargo security on major national highways.
