The Tripura government announced that an Ambedkar hostel for Scheduled Caste male college students will be operational within the next two months.
The state administration of Tripura has confirmed that a new hostel named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar will be inaugurated for Scheduled Caste (SC) male students pursuing higher education. The facility is slated to become functional within the next sixty days, according to official statements.
The initiative aims to address the shortage of affordable accommodation for SC students attending colleges across the state, thereby improving their access to higher education. The hostel will provide basic amenities, including study rooms, mess facilities, and security measures, in line with government standards.
Tripura's education department has indicated that the project is being fast‑tracked under existing welfare schemes for marginalized communities. Once operational, the hostel is expected to house several hundred students, reducing the financial burden on families and encouraging greater enrollment among SC youth.
