Tripura LoP Jitendra Chaudhury Says Public Backing Strong for CPI(M) Amid Intimidation Claims

Tripura’s Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, told reporters that the party’s candidates are receiving a robust response from voters as the state gears up for the upcoming assembly polls. He highlighted that door‑to‑door canvassing and public meetings have reflected a clear preference for the CPI(M) platform among ordinary citizens.

Chaudhury also raised concerns over alleged intimidation tactics targeting CPI(M) workers, attributing the pressure to rival parties, specifically the Bharatiya Janata Party and the regional Tipra Motha movement. According to him, several activists have reported threats and harassment aimed at curbing their campaign activities.

Emphasising the need for a free and fair electoral environment, the LoP urged the Election Commission to monitor the situation closely and ensure that any intimidation is investigated promptly. He appealed to voters to exercise their franchise without fear, reinforcing the democratic principle of a level playing field.
