Chief Minister Manik Saha instructed state officials to accelerate the building of a new college in Jolaibari, aiming to expand higher‑education opportunities in the region.

Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed the state administration to speed up the implementation of the Jolaibari College project. In a meeting with senior officials, he emphasized that the institution will address the long‑standing demand for higher‑education facilities in the southern part of the state.

The CM asked the departments of education, public works and finance to clear any pending land issues, release earmarked funds and set a strict timeline for construction milestones. He also instructed the district collector to monitor progress on a weekly basis and report any bottlenecks.

Stakeholders view the fast‑track approach as a step toward improving educational infrastructure in remote districts, where students often travel long distances for college courses. The government has not disclosed a specific completion date, but officials indicated that the project will be prioritized over other pending works.

If completed as planned, the Jolaibari College is expected to offer undergraduate programs in arts, science and commerce, thereby widening access for local youth and supporting the state's broader development goals.
