A tractor-trailer transporting corn for a cattle shed near Jhagdiya in Baitul was struck by a high‑tension power line, igniting a fierce fire that destroyed the load. The driver managed to escape with his life.
Earlier today, a tractor‑trailer loaded with corn for a local cattle shed was moving through the Kotwali police jurisdiction near the village of Jhagdiya, Baitul, Madhya Pradesh. While en route, the vehicle came into contact with an overhead high‑tension power line, causing an immediate spark.
The contact ignited a massive blaze that quickly engulfed the corn container, turning the entire load into ash within seconds. Witnesses said the fire was so intense that it created a bright flash and a loud crack, startling everyone in the vicinity.
The driver, who was seated in the cabin at the time, managed to jump out of the vehicle just before the flames reached the cab. He escaped with minor injuries and was taken to a nearby health centre for a check‑up.
Local police and fire‑rescue teams arrived promptly, extinguished the remaining fire, and cordoned off the area. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the line failure and to assess any liability.
