A tiger entered Sehore town on Tuesday, moving through the Mandi, Murli and Avadhpuri neighborhoods and alarming residents, with witnesses reporting the animal walking alongside railway tracks and its tracks found in Avadhpuri.

A tiger that had emerged from the surrounding forest entered the town of Sehore on Tuesday morning, moving through the market area (Mandi), Murli and Avadhpuri localities. The unexpected presence of the big cat caused panic among residents and commuters.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the tiger walking along the railway line that borders the city, a route that allowed it to navigate between the forest fringe and the urban zones. In Avadhpuri, officials later discovered clear paw prints and signs of the animal having rested, confirming its recent passage.

Local authorities, including the forest department, were alerted to the situation and began monitoring the tiger’s movements. Residents were advised to stay indoors and avoid the affected neighborhoods until the animal could be safely guided back to its habitat.

The incident underscores the challenges of human‑wildlife coexistence in rapidly expanding peri‑urban areas of Madhya Pradesh, where forest corridors often intersect with growing towns.
