The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of thunderstorms across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the coming week, with possible showers reaching Delhi as well.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released a weather outlook indicating that thunderstorms are likely to develop over the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand later this week. The forecast covers the period from Monday through Friday, with the most intense activity expected on Thursday and Friday.
Meteorologists highlighted that the western disturbances moving across the Himalayas are the primary drivers of the expected convective activity. Residents in the affected districts have been advised to stay alert for sudden downpours, strong gusts, and localized flooding, especially in valleys and low‑lying areas.
While the core of the system will remain over the two states, the IMD warned that peripheral rain bands could extend towards the National Capital Region, bringing intermittent showers to Delhi. Authorities in Himachal and Uttarakhand have been instructed to keep disaster response teams on standby.
The department emphasized that the situation will be monitored continuously, and updates will be issued if the intensity or trajectory of the storms changes.
