Forest officials in Assam reported the sighting of three unknown big‑cat cubs near the historic Charaideo Moidams and have stepped up monitoring efforts.
Forest personnel in Assam’s Charaideo district confirmed the presence of three cubs belonging to a large feline species near the ancient Charaideo Moidams site. The animals have not been identified to species level, prompting caution among officials.
The forest department has deployed additional field teams and installed motion‑sensor cameras to track the cubs' movements and ensure their safety as well as that of nearby residents. Rangers are also coordinating with local communities to raise awareness and prevent any accidental encounters.
Authorities emphasized that the sighting underscores the need for continued habitat protection in the region, which is known for its rich biodiversity. Further updates will be provided as monitoring data becomes available.
