More than 21 donation boxes opened at Devas’s Mata Tekri after Navratri contained cash, silver ornaments, Nepalese notes and written pleas ranging from eyesight to job relief.
Devas town in Madhya Pradesh saw officials open over twenty‑one donation boxes at the famed Mata Tekri shrine after the Navratri festivities ended. The boxes, which are traditionally used by devotees to offer contributions, were examined by temple authorities and local police.
The inspection revealed large sums of cash amounting to several million rupees, assorted silver jewellery and a handful of Nepalese rupee notes. These valuables were collected and secured for further verification.
Along with the monetary offerings, the boxes contained handwritten petitions from devotees. Some seekers asked for divine intervention to restore eyesight, while others appealed for relief in employment or job security.
Authorities have logged the items and are forwarding the cash and jewellery to the appropriate government channels. The petitions will be forwarded to the temple’s priesthood for spiritual consideration, as per customary practice.
