During Sharadiya Navratri, large crowds have assembled at the Siddhapiṭh Maa Haiyathth Devi temple in Benipur, Darbhanga, to worship the sacred throne of Goddess Durga, a tradition that also draws devotees from Nepal.

The Siddhapiṭh Maa Haiyathth Devi temple in Benipur, a town in Darbhanga district of Bihar, has become a focal point of devotion this Sharadiya Navratri. Thousands of pilgrims, including a noticeable number from neighboring Nepal, have converged on the historic shrine to partake in the unique ritual of venerating the goddess’s throne rather than a conventional idol.

Organisers report that the temple’s courtyard is filled with colourful processions, traditional music and offerings placed directly on the throne, which is regarded as the embodiment of Goddess Durga’s power. The practice, rooted in local legend, distinguishes the site as a rare “Shaktipeeth” where the divine seat itself is the object of worship.

Local authorities have deployed additional security and crowd‑management measures to ensure safety amid the swelling numbers. The event underscores the cultural continuity of the region’s religious customs and highlights cross‑border devotional ties between Bihar and Nepal during one of Hinduism’s most celebrated festivals.
