Thieves steal ₹4 lakh cash and silver canopy from Shantinath Jain temple in Udaipur

Around 3:40 am, CCTV footage captured two thieves breaking into the donation box of the Shantinath Jain temple in Udaipur’s Hirna Magri area, stealing roughly ₹4 lakh in cash, a silver canopy and other valuables.
The Shantinath Jain temple in the Hirna Magri locality of Udaipur was targeted in a pre‑dawn robbery. CCTV cameras recorded two individuals entering the premises at about 3:40 am and forcibly opening the donation box.
The thieves made off with an estimated ₹4 lakh in cash, a silver canopy that adorns the sanctum, and several other valuable items that were stored alongside the donations.
Local police were alerted after the footage was reviewed and have opened an investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident underscores security concerns at religious sites in the region.
Authorities are reviewing additional surveillance feeds and have increased patrols around temples in the city as a precautionary measure.
