Police received a report that a vehicle loaded with roughly 54 gas cylinders had been taken from a local gas agency late on Wednesday night. Responding units from the Thana Focal Point and the Ishwar Nagar police chowki rushed to the scene shortly after the alarm was raised.
According to the initial findings, the thieves forced open the vehicle, removed the cylinders and fled the area. Witnesses say the perpetrators sprayed a incapacitating agent, likely a stun or chloroform spray, to deter any immediate resistance.
The police have secured the area, collected forensic evidence and are canvassing nearby residents for additional leads. Investigators have not disclosed any arrests yet, but the case is being treated as a serious theft involving hazardous material.
Authorities have warned the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity related to the missing cylinders, emphasizing the potential safety risks associated with unauthorized handling of compressed gas.
