ThePrint’s editorial describes actor Vijay Deverakonda as a typical sexist hero in Telugu cinema, saying such behaviour is commonplace.
ThePrint, a digital news platform, published an opinion article titled “Vijay Deverakonda is like every other sexist Tollywood hero. It is the norm here.” The piece directly labels the popular Telugu‑film actor as embodying sexism that is prevalent among male leads in the industry.
The editorial argues that Deverakonda’s on‑screen persona and public statements reflect a broader pattern of gender bias in Tollywood, describing such attitudes as the norm rather than an exception.
By highlighting this trend, the article calls for a reassessment of how masculinity and gender relations are portrayed in Telugu cinema, urging stakeholders to move beyond stereotypical, sexist depictions.
