Authorities demolished ten illegal commercial structures in Begum Bagh, Ujjain, after the Muslim community vacated them, to widen the Mahakal Temple approach road and build a bridge for the upcoming Singhsth-2028 event.
Ujjain's Begum Bagh area saw the demolition of ten structures identified as illegal commercial constructions as part of the Singhsth-2028 preparations. The Muslim community residing in the locality voluntarily vacated the premises, after which the municipal administration cleared the buildings.
The cleared land is slated for infrastructure work that includes widening the access road to the Mahakal Temple and constructing a bridge to improve traffic flow during the upcoming religious gathering.
Local officials said the demolition aligns with city planning guidelines and aims to ensure safe and orderly movement of pilgrims expected for the 2028 Singhsth event.
No injuries were reported during the demolition, and the authorities have urged residents to cooperate with further development activities.
The project is expected to be completed ahead of the scheduled dates for the Singhsth-2028 celebrations, enhancing connectivity to one of the city's most visited shrines.
