A new report highlights that despite rising food consumption in Telangana, many residents suffer from micronutrient deficiencies, a phenomenon known as hidden hunger.

The report points out that while caloric intake has improved, micronutrient deficiencies remain high in many households. Hidden hunger refers to the lack of essential vitamins and minerals that are not visible in the diet. The findings suggest that reliance on staple grains without adequate variety contributes to the problem. Experts say that simply increasing food quantity does not address the need for balanced nutrition. The state government has urged stakeholders to strengthen nutrition education and diversify food sources.
