Teacher Recruit Protest in Bhopal: Hunger Strike Ends, Digvijay Singh Meets Protesters

After a 16‑day hunger strike over increased teacher posts in Bhopal, the protest concluded as former CM Digvijay Singh met the demonstrators and spoke with Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh.
The hunger strike launched by teacher aspirants in Bhopal to demand an increase in recruitment vacancies came to an end after 16 days of fasting. Protesters had been pressing the state government to raise the number of teaching positions in the upcoming recruitment drive, citing a shortage of qualified staff in schools.
Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh entered the protest site and held talks with the aggrieved candidates. During the meeting, he conveyed the concerns to Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh through a phone conversation, signalling a direct line of communication between the movement and the state cabinet.
While the fast has been called off, the demonstrators have announced that the dharna will continue until a concrete decision on the additional posts is announced. A further meeting with the education minister is scheduled for the 8th of the month to discuss the way forward.
