Police in the Tal block of Ratlam district, Madhya Pradesh, detained a guest teacher after a minor girl alleged sexual harassment. The investigation led to the teacher's arrest and his subsequent remand to jail pending further inquiry.
Following the arrest, a video circulated on social media showing a group of villagers binding the teacher to a tree and physically assaulting him. The footage captured the mob's anger and raised concerns about extrajudicial punishment.
Authorities confirmed that the teacher has been placed in judicial custody, and the case is being processed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Local officials have urged the public to allow the legal process to run its course while condemning any form of mob violence.
The incident has sparked debate over the safety of educators and the need for swift, lawful action against sexual misconduct, as well as the importance of preventing vigilante justice in rural communities.
