Tamil Youth Convene to Debate Rationalism, Periyar Ideals and North Chennai Stereotypes

A group of Tamil students and activists convened in Chennai to discuss rationalist principles and the teachings of Periyar, the renowned social reformer. The meeting focused on how Periyar’s emphasis on social equality and critical thinking remains relevant to contemporary youth concerns. Participants also tackled common stereotypes associated with North Chennai, arguing that such perceptions often overlook the region’s cultural richness and diversity. The gathering, organized by local student groups, aimed to foster dialogue, encourage critical analysis, and challenge prevailing social biases among the younger generation.
