For the first time, October’s solar electricity output in Tamil Nadu hit a new high, according to The Times of India.
Tamil Nadu's solar power plants collectively generated more electricity in October than in any previous October, marking a first‑time record for the state. The Times of India reported the milestone, noting that the cumulative output surpassed earlier monthly figures.
The achievement reflects the growing contribution of renewable energy to the state's power mix, as solar installations continue to expand across the region. Analysts attribute the rise to higher solar capacity and improved grid integration.
State officials see the record as an encouraging sign for India's climate goals, emphasizing that sustained solar growth can reduce reliance on fossil fuels and support energy security.
The new benchmark also underscores the effectiveness of recent policy incentives aimed at encouraging solar investments in Tamil Nadu.
Further data will be released by the state electricity board to detail the exact megawatt‑hour figures and compare them with national trends.
