The Tamil Nadu police will soon receive specialised guns that can bring down unauthorised drones within ten seconds, according to The Times of India.
The state police of Tamil Nadu are set to procure new anti‑drone weapons that can disable an aerial vehicle in as little as ten seconds. The equipment, described as “guns” by officials, is intended to counter the growing use of unauthorised drones in public spaces and sensitive locations.
According to a report in The Times of India, the procurement is part of a broader effort to enhance aerial security and protect critical infrastructure. The rapid‑response capability is expected to give law‑enforcement agencies a decisive tool against potential threats posed by rogue UAVs.
Details on the exact make, cost or deployment timeline have not been disclosed, but the announcement signals a shift towards high‑tech solutions in policing within the state.
