The Tamil Nadu government has announced that new Tamil films can now be screened up to six times a day in state theatres, a move aimed at boosting the local film industry.
The Tamil Nadu government has introduced a new policy allowing up to six daily screenings for newly released Tamil films across theatres in the state.
This change follows discussions between film producers, distributors and exhibitors who sought greater flexibility to showcase fresh content and maximize box‑office returns.
The decision is expected to provide filmmakers with more opportunities to reach audiences, while also helping cinema halls increase revenue during peak times.
The policy will apply to all theatres licensed under the Tamil Nadu Film and Television Producers Association and is effective from the next release cycle.
