Forest watchers and guards in Tamil Nadu have raised concerns over pay disparity, demanding salaries equivalent to those of police personnel.
Forest watchers and guards employed by the Tamil Nadu forest department have pointed out a significant gap in their salaries compared to police personnel. They state that the current pay structure does not reflect the risks and responsibilities of their frontline conservation work.
The workers are now seeking a revision of their pay scales to bring them on par with the salaries of police officers, arguing that such parity would recognise their contribution to protecting wildlife and forest resources.
This demand was highlighted in a report by The New Indian Express, which noted the workers' call for equitable remuneration. No further details regarding government response or timelines were provided in the lead.
