Chief Minister M.K. Stalin publicly rebuked the Tamil TV channel TVK after it reported a 135‑kilogram methamphetamine seizure, calling the coverage irresponsible.

Tamil Nadu police announced the seizure of approximately 135 kilograms of methamphetamine in a recent operation, marking one of the largest drug busts in the state this year. The haul, uncovered during a raid on a suspected trafficking hub, has intensified concerns about the flow of synthetic narcotics into the region.

In response, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took to a press briefing to condemn the way the story was presented by the Tamil news channel TVK. He described the channel's coverage as sensationalist and warned that irresponsible reporting could undermine public confidence in law‑enforcement efforts.

Stalin's remarks have sparked a fresh political row, with the ruling party accusing the media outlet of politicising a law‑and‑order issue. The state government signalled it would review the broadcast standards of TVK and urged all media houses to adhere to factual reporting when dealing with sensitive crime news.

Law‑enforcement officials, while acknowledging the political fallout, reiterated that the investigation into the drug network remains ongoing and that further arrests are expected as the probe deepens.
