The Tamil Nadu government has named senior IPS officer Sanjay Mathur as the Director General of Police for the State Crime Records Bureau, alongside transferring five other IPS officers.
The Tamil Nadu government announced a senior police reshuffle, appointing Sanjay Mathur as the Director General of Police (DGP) for the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB). The decision was disclosed through an official notification issued by the Home Department.
Mathur, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will now head the SCRB, the agency responsible for collating and analysing crime data across the state. His appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen the bureau’s operational capacity and improve the accuracy of crime statistics.
In the same order, five other IPS officers were transferred to different postings within the state police hierarchy. The government said the transfers aim to optimize personnel deployment and enhance overall administrative efficiency.
The reshuffle reflects the administration’s focus on modernising law‑enforcement infrastructure and ensuring that the SCRB is led by experienced leadership capable of handling evolving security challenges.
