The Tamil Nadu government has unveiled a proposal to develop an Olympic City and a dedicated Motor Sports City, aiming to boost sports infrastructure and attract international events.
The state administration of Tamil Nadu disclosed its intention to create two specialised sports hubs – an Olympic City and a Motor Sports City – as part of a broader effort to upgrade the region’s sporting facilities.
The proposed Olympic City will house venues capable of hosting a range of Olympic‑style competitions, while the Motor Sports City is planned as a dedicated complex for motorsport events, training and related activities.
Officials indicated that the projects will be implemented over the coming years, with the state sports department overseeing design, land acquisition and coordination with national sports bodies.
If realised, the twin cities are expected to draw national and international tournaments, stimulate local economies and provide athletes with world‑class infrastructure.
The announcement follows similar infrastructure drives in other Indian states, reflecting a growing focus on positioning India as a destination for major sporting events.
