Supreme Court Names Single-Judge Panel to Verify Noida Flat Claimants

The Supreme Court has appointed a single-judge panel to verify the authenticity of claimants for flats in Noida. This follows its 2022 directive to NOIDA to allocate flats to 844 identified society members and examine claims of 133 subsequent purchasers.

The Supreme Court's decision to set up a single-judge panel aims to scrutinise who is genuinely entitled to the flats under the NOIDA housing scheme. The panel will examine documentation and hear submissions from the claimants to determine their eligibility.

In 2022, the apex court had directed the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) to allot multi-storeyed flats to 844 members identified by the concerned society and to examine the claims of 133 additional purchasers who came forward later.

The newly constituted panel will review documents, hear submissions and determine which applicants meet the eligibility criteria laid out by the court. Its findings will guide the final allotment process.

The move is intended to prevent any irregularities in the allotment process and ensure that only bona fide beneficiaries receive the housing units, thereby upholding the court’s earlier directives.
