Sunil Kothari, a three‑decade BJP veteran and former RSS activist, has taken office as mayor of Jaipur, promising to upgrade the city’s urban infrastructure.
Sunil Kothari was sworn in as the mayor of Jaipur after the recent municipal elections, becoming the latest face of the city’s local government. His appointment follows a vigorous campaign that resonated with the slogan “Mhara Jaipur, Pyara Jaipur,” which called for greater integration and development of the capital’s urban landscape.
Kothari’s political journey began within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and has spanned more than thirty years of active involvement with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He emerged as a prominent voice in the “Mhara Jaipur, Pyara Jaipur” movement, which sought to highlight the city’s infrastructural gaps and demand responsive civic administration.
As mayor, Kothari has outlined a roadmap that focuses on improving basic municipal services, including water supply, waste management, traffic regulation, and public health facilities. He emphasized that efficient delivery of these services will be essential to meet the expectations of Jaipur’s growing population.
The new mayor also acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting that coordinated efforts between the municipal corporation, state agencies, and private stakeholders will be crucial to translate promises into tangible outcomes for residents.
