Sunil Gavaskar urges recall of senior all-rounder to India squad after Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Veteran cricket commentator Sunil Gavaskar publicly stated that the Indian team should consider reinstating a senior all‑rounder following the recent unavailability of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Gavaskar clarified that his suggestion was not aimed at Mohammed Shami, whose name often surfaces in selection debates, but at strengthening the side’s balance with an experienced all‑rounder. He emphasized that depth in both batting and bowling is crucial as India prepares for upcoming international fixtures. The former legend’s remarks come amid discussions about squad composition and injury management within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). No official response from the BCCI has been released yet, but Gavaskar’s view adds another voice to the ongoing selection discourse.
