Cooperative dairy brand Sudha has inaugurated a 20,000‑litre processing facility in Assam, aiming to expand its footprint in the Northeast and improve local milk procurement.
Sudha, the dairy brand operated by the National Dairy Development Board, opened a new processing plant in Assam capable of handling 20,000 litres of milk daily. The inauguration marks a strategic push to deepen the brand’s presence in the Northeast region.
The facility is designed to procure milk directly from local farmers, offering them a stable market and encouraging the growth of dairy farming in the state. It will also increase the supply of Sudha’s milk and value‑added products to consumers in the area.
By adding this capacity, Sudha aims to meet the rising demand for dairy in the Northeast, where per‑capita consumption is on the rise, and to reduce reliance on milk sourced from other parts of the country.
State officials noted that the plant is expected to create jobs and stimulate ancillary businesses such as transport and packaging in the region.
